What is the Playbill then!?

It’s an evolving stage for bold and bizarre games.

Not a game pass. Not a bundle. But both, and neither. It’s an ever-updating collection of eccentric games you can call your own, bringing bold, genre-subverting experiences under one glorious roof.

As well as this, it’s a connected space knitting together our monthly partnerships and puzzles, newsletter and social channels, and original games.

For connoisseurs of the more eclectic end of the indie spectrum, we hope the Playbill is a home away from home.

SO THE PLAYBILL IS AN INDIE GAME PASS, THEN? WHY DIDN’T YOU JUST SAY THAT

Yes I suppose it sort of is isn’t it. But it’s key based, with old games moving out of the service when they run out, and new games coming in on a regular basis. We will still be running our monthly partnerships with notable developers and publishers, and these titles will be guaranteed for our Primo subscribers.

WHAT IS PRIMO?

Primo are the best seats in the house! While the Playbill itself is free to access, as are our puzzles, ARGs and connected social features, if you want access to the Main Show and the evolving roster of Bold and Bizarre games within it, you’ll need to go Primo.

Monthly subscribers will get a guaranteed game each month as part of our monthly partnerships, unlocking the Main Show after six months of subscription. Annual subscribers get all 13 games in the Main Show as well as new titles as and when they’re added.

Regardless of Monthly or Annual, all Primo members will get access to the Green Room, Pantaloon original games on Day 1 of release (or thereabouts) and a dedicated Primo Discord Lounge.

HOW MUCH IS PRIMO

It’s $4.99/£3.99 per month, and $49.99/£39.99 per year.

IF I’M PRIMO MONTHLY, BUT WANT TO GO ANNUAL, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

We will soon be implementing an upgrade path for this, but right now simply cancel your existing subscription and then re-subscribe for Annual.

WHAT IS THE GREEN ROOM?

Oh this is a cool one. The Green Room is a channel within the Playbill for demos, playtests, abandoned prototypes and other slices and offcuts of interesting games. The intention with the Green Room is to give a dedicated look behind the curtain, giving visibility and insight into the process of how games are made. This will grow out over time.

DOES THE PLAYBILL FEATURE ANY GAMES THAT USE GENERATIVE AI?

No, it does not. Pantaloon’s Playbill is a celebration of the craft of designing and developing games. We feature games that employ human ingenuity and intention.

AND WHAT ABOUT THESE PUZZLES AND ARGs I KEEP HEARING ABOUT?

Yes we are partial to a little puzzle round these parts. I’ve no idea how it happened. But these monthly challenges became a way for our community to bag themselves a game in our monthly partnerships - as the number of keys we had quickly became dwarfed by the size of our community.

Puzzles once appeared in inbox, and then via our Puzzletrunk game (which will likely resurface at some point in the near future) and will now appear in the Playbill itself. So keep your eye holes open.

DO I NEED TO BE PRIMO TO JOIN YOUR PUZZLES!?

You do not! ANYBODY can take part in our monthly puzzles, and should you solve/win this under whatever conditions might be specific to that month, you will add that month’s partner game to your Playbill.
